The Latest Snarkitecture Installation Boasts 168 Spheres
The new Snarkitecture installation is debuted at Intersect which is a creative hub located in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan. The New York-based design firm takes the opportunity to produce a responsive, large-scale artwork.
Throughout the exhibition room, 168 spheres are installed. The orbs are held in place by “flexible, swaying poles.” They are suspended both from the ceiling and they also come out of the floor, creating a kind of a mirroring effect. When one comes in contact with the Snarkitecture installation, however, the LED lights change colors. This is made possible through “the same technology that triggers the shifting orientation of a smartphone screen.”
The orbs are responsive to touch, motion, acceleration, and direction. Hence, Snarkitecture creates a strongly immersive environment in a very small space.
