The June 2020 branding trends incorporate the latest innovations in packaging, marketing campaigns, and more. One inclusion comes from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, an artisan dessert company that’s located in Columbus, Ohio. Recently releasing its new Sunshine Pint, Jeni’s describes the unique flavor as a “Sun-kissed lemon and sweet-tart tangerine with radiant passion fruit.” With such flavor notes, consumers would typically expect the ice cream to be colored accordingly, however it features a rather drab tone of gray. This strange branding decision is meant to thwart expectations and remind consumers that “things aren’t always as they seem.” To provide a more eco-friendly alternative to the plastic tubes that are often used to hold cosmetics and food products, Toppan Printing devised a paper-based design that uses 50% less plastic than most other designs that are available on the market. In addition to being more eco-friendly, the tubes are just 0.1mm thick, making it easier for consumers to squeeze more product out of the packaging.
