Data-Based Security Bounties : bounty program

Facebook has announced that it will bring its bounty program to Instagram. The bounty program will provide compensation to those who are able to find data abuses happening on the Instagram platform. Facebook started the program in 2018 and will now expand its other platform. Reports will focus on data access, where third-party apps that store or access user data will be targeted. This would include things like fake user interactions, which could pertain to likes, comments or followers.

The company appears to value data security and believes that users are a great resource to monitor potential security threats. To date, Facebook has rewarded people with over $1.1 million for security information in 2018. Actionable information reported to the company was compensated with an average of $40,000.
