Vaccine-Encouraging Rap Campaigns

Juvenile and BLK remixed the rapper’s hit 1999 track “Back That Thang Up” to promote the COVID-19 vaccination among young people. The song originally featured Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne; however, the parody replaces Lil Wayne with Mia X, who promotes BLK, a dating app for Black singles. The remixed rap song is titled “Vax That Thang Up” and portrays Juvenile tossing around COVID-19 vaccination cards. In the parody song, Juvenile raps, “Girl you look good, won’t you vax that thang up,” to highlight the importance of herd immunity via vaccination to freely meet and date young singles. While the remixed track is a dating app ad, it also acts as another “hot vaxx summer” anthem.
