Alicja Biała & Iwo Borkowicz Work with Climate Change Data

A collaboration between designer Alicja Biała and architect Iwo Borkowicz is positively colorful, towering and climate change-inspired. The installation occupies the space underneath the MVRDV Bałtyk tower in Poznań, Poland. There is a total of six sculptures — each boasts creative stackings of geometric shapes that are adorned with vibrant, attention-captivating colors and patterns.

The idea behind the work of Alicja Biała and Iwo Borkowicz is to raise awareness about human impact on the natural environment. The shapes and palettes of the totems are not accidental. In fact, they are climate change-inspired. The designer and the architect produced tangible visualizations of data about the environmental crisis. Audience members who are eager to interact and learn about the sculptures can scan QR codes, which decode the stylistic choices for each totem.
