Reduced Plastic Meat Packaging : cardboard steak packaging

[ad_1]

This new cardboard steak packaging has been unveiled by UK-based grocery retailer Aldi as part of its initiative to cut plastic use without worry about compromising on food quality or shelf life.

The packaging is being trialled by the brand in over 380 stores in the UK and will be used with fillet, sirloin, rump and ribeye steak. It will feature 88% less plastic than other meat packaging and consists of a piece of cardboard sourced from sustainably managed forests along with a thin base film.

The Aldi cardboard steak packaging is reported to eliminate 240 tonnes of plastic from being used each year and, if successful in trials, will be expanded nationwide and to additional product varieties.
