The August 2019 customization examples speak to a culture in consumer preferences that favors personalization. While some of the product experiences are intended as one-time marketing tactics, other brands infuse the element of customization deeper into their operational model, rendering it inseparable from the final product.

Cadbury’s innovative milk chocolate 3D printer is an instance of the former. For World Chocolate Day (July 7th), the confectionery brand debuted a tech activation that allowed consumers to design their own chocolate charms boasting letters, shapes, and symbols that the participants select.

pxl. and Holden, on the other hand, embrace personalization further. In the August 2019 customization list, pxl. is spotlighted for its platform for infinitely customizable shoes, while Holden is celebrated for its one-of-a-kind engagement rings.
